Union Dues
Union dues are regular payments members make so the union can represent them: negotiating the contract, handling grievances, legal help, and a strike fund if talks fail. They are usually taken from your paycheque, which lowers take-home pay. You weigh that cost against the pay, benefits, and workplace rules the union bargains for.
Dues are a membership cost, not a government tax. They show up in both U.S. and Canadian union workplaces.
