Transferable Skills

Transferable Skills

Transferable skills are abilities you can carry from one job, team, or situation to the next: communicating clearly, solving problems, staying calm with a difficult customer, showing up ready to learn. A manager can teach you one store’s cash register in a week. They cannot quickly teach you to listen or to own a mistake. School projects, sports, volunteering, and a first job all build these skills. Technical skills still matter for getting hired. Transferable skills are what you keep using after the software changes.
