Total Compensation
Total compensation is the full value of a job, not only the wage. It includes pay plus benefits such as health insurance, retirement contributions, and paid leave. In the United States, benefits often make up a large share of that package. In Canada, public health care changes the mix, but employer pensions, dental, and paid time off still count. Compare offers on the whole package. A lower wage with strong benefits can beat a higher wage with almost none.
