Statutory Holidays

Statutory Holidays

Statutory holidays are calendar days employment law names as holidays. In Canada you generally get a paid day off, or premium pay if you work. Which days count depends on your province or territory, or on the Canada Labour Code if you are in a federal industry such as banking or airlines. Vacation is different: that is time you earn and book.

In the United States there is no single national list for private jobs. Many employers still offer paid holidays as part of the benefits package.
