Price Elasticity

Price Elasticity

Price elasticity of demand measures how much the quantity people buy changes when the price changes. Demand is elastic when a small price increase costs a lot of sales, as with a snack a student can skip. Demand is inelastic when people buy about the same amount anyway, as with a medicine they need this week or with gasoline, which has few substitutes.
