Mood-State Spending

Mood-State Spending

Mood-state spending is buying something mainly to change how you feel. After a stressful week, boredom, or a fight at home, the purchase can soothe you for an hour even if you did not need the item. The trigger is your emotional state, not the product. That is why this kind of spending often spikes during life transitions, when stress is high and it is easier to click buy than sit with the feeling.
