Minimum Payment

Minimum Payment

The minimum payment is the smallest amount most credit cards require you to pay toward any outstanding balance each month for the account to remain in good standing. Paying at least that amount, on time, keeps the account from being marked late. It does not pay off the balance. The unpaid remainder usually continues to grow as financing charges are added. Paying only the minimum is separate from paying the statement in full during the grace period.
