Liquidity

Liquidity

Liquidity is how quickly an asset can be turned into cash and used to pay bills. Cash is the most liquid asset. A retirement account is much less liquid, because it cannot be spent right away. For a business, liquidity is the ability to pay obligations due within a year. Solvency asks a different question: whether the debts can be met over the long term.
