Independent Contractor

Independent Contractor

An independent contractor is a self-employed worker a company hires to complete a specific job or provide a service. The contractor decides how the work gets done, often has several clients, and bills the company a fee. The company does not withhold taxes or put the contractor on its payroll the way it does for an employee.
