A type of business that offers a “template” to individual business owners. The “Franchisee” wholly owns and operates their own establishment but must operate within the rules of the “Franchisor” in order to receive marketing, logistical, training, and other support services (and the right to use the brand’s name). Most McDonald’s restaurants operate on the Franchise model.
