Credit Limit

Credit Limit

A credit limit is the maximum amount a lender will let you borrow on a particular account, such as a credit card. The lender sets it based on your ability to repay. With revolving credit, you can borrow again as you pay the balance down.

If you reach the limit, you cannot make new purchases until you repay some of what you owe. Higher limits and lower interest rates are usually part of better credit terms.
