Break Even

Break Even

The break-even point is the level at which money coming in exactly covers money going out, so there is neither a profit nor a loss. For a company, that is usually the number of units or customers it must sell to cover its costs.

For an individual investor, it is the price at which an investment has recovered its original cost, including any fees. Below this point there is a loss; above it, there is a profit.
