Grievance
A grievance is a formal workplace complaint that follows a set procedure, not a casual remark to a coworker. It can concern a manager, a coworker, pay, safety, harassment, or a broken workplace rule. In a union setting, members usually file it when they believe the employer has broken the collective bargaining agreement. That process often starts with a supervisor, then written steps, and may end in outside arbitration. Non-union workplaces may use an HR complaint process instead.
