At-Will Employment

At-Will Employment

At-will employment is a U.S. rule under which an employer can usually fire a worker, or a worker can quit, at any time for any legal reason, without advance notice. It is common in private non-union jobs. Union contracts often replace it with just cause, which requires a valid reason and a fair process before serious discipline or firing.
