Renter’s Insurance

Renter’s Insurance

Renters insurance protects a person renting a house or apartment against theft or damage to their belongings, such as a laptop, clothes, and furniture. It can also cover liability if a guest is injured. The building itself stays on the landlord’s homeowners policy, which is why a renters policy costs much less. A lease that does not require this coverage still leaves those belongings uninsured after a break-in or a burst pipe.
