Demographic Segmentation

Demographic & Psychographic Segmentation

Demographics and psychographics are two ways marketers describe a customer. Demographics are measurable facts such as age, gender, income, education, and location. They answer who the customer is. Psychographics are interests, activities, values, and lifestyle. They help explain why that person might buy.

Two 17-year-olds with the same income can still shop very differently if one cares about sports and the other cares about music. Marketers use both because a group that looks the same on paper can still want different products.
